Whats Good?

Research, is the foundation of a new begging, whether it is to improve oneself, to get others opinions, or to discover ways of doing things that blow your mind. Good Communication starts with “Your purpose, your context, your audience, and rage of strategies and media available to you.” (143)Research is defined as “anytime you look for information or resources to help you make decisions.”(143) This chapter focuses on the research done in an academic research project and the products it creates.
Advocacy has its roots in research. Issues and organizations rely on people to do research about their causes so that they can convince them to spend their time and energy. To do this they need a solid support for what they car advocating. Research is defined here as “searching again”144, those who know Latin roots probably could have figured that out by them self’s. Research does not have to stop at the written level. It could include informal interview or taking photographs. Researching could strengthen the bonds to other people, because the more one learns about what is, happened or works changes how one presents themselves. To do this one needs to make sure that what is discover is utterly and completely accurate, because if not the false information could lead to a misrepresentation and cause a negative rift between your self and others. One also have to be impartial to the data collected, because a bias view could miscue the actuality of the information. Finally “Research is a social action.”(145)

I’m the juggernaut bitch

At the Fremont Hindu Temple and Cultural Center priests did a special ritual ,that involved sprinkling butter onto flames, that “…turned a deity called Lord Jannath into a living god. — one of 330 million in the Hindu religion, a number that represents that God is everywhere. “ People from around the world have been at the temple, and been leavening offerings of “coconuts and fruit” to the statue of Lord Jagannath. They also bathed him, brushed his teeth and put him to sleep(I don’t know how to do that to a statue) “He is considered to be "lord of the universe" and his wide-open eyes indicate to believers that he can see all things.”
Rather the event being interesting to me, it is the Hindi Religion. I grew up from Catholic Schooling, from kindergarten to high school; I was exposed to these religions but very briefly. Though Hinduism is a very broad subject to cover, I’m pretty sure I can find a specific subject on it. Right now I have and Idea on researching the integration of Hinduism to the daily life’s of American citizens or may be the differences in values that new generation Hindis have or lost then the old generation gave or were lost in translation. I would also like to know a little bit more about this religion, it always fascinated me. I could find out its begging’s, its legends, and its customs. Also I could use the information I get in the future for a better mannered man.

Its all just Saigon

There have been a recent controversy, that has been blown out of proportion. This was between the naming of a little retail strip on story road where council member, Madison Nguyen proposed the title “Saigon Business District” that it sound more professional and would bring better business over “Little Saigon” which a large number of the Vietnamese community feel strongly about. In hated battles, the courts compromised on an action. They agreed to remove the title “Saigon Business District” and allow private investors to purchase a sign that read “Little Saigon” and post it on the road of the strip.
This controversy caused an uproar in the Vietnamese community enough so that their were talks about taking Madison Nguyen out of office. A recall of epic propotions. I feel that I had to do something with this article because I am Vietnamese my self, 2nd generation Vietnamese American. I understand that Saigon was the capital of Vietnam before the Vietnam War and after the war it became Ho Chi Min City. The title Saigon, and the word, brings a delightful memory to my parents. A memory of their childhood pass. Doesn’t everyone in their life wish, at least once, that they can relive their childhood. All the innocents and joy, friendships and love. The name little Saigon would allow them to at least have just a little taste of that past, but I also think that Saigon will always be in their hearts.
